Björn Borg Walls

The branded films for tennis brand Björn Borg stand out as striking examples of work anchored in the reality that walls do divide yet are part of the contemporary geopolitical landscape.

Taking a documentary approach, we follow athletes from opposite sides of contentious borders, Mexico and USA, and Gaza and Israel, as they do the sports they love. By filming the sport along actual guarded and monitored walls, making the location an integral part of the story. The action creates extreme drama while demonstrating how sport has the power to unit people.

Thymann was aware that the project he developed would be a challenge, but also impactful. The result is a pair of moving stories told by athletes who comment on the walls separating the worlds they know.
